Auditions have nearly stopped for the summer break and things are quiet now for most child actors. There are things you can catch up on now while you have some free time before episodics start up in late July or August.
Headshots – if your child has grown, changed hairstyles or no longer looks like the current picture, it’s time to get new shots. We have many discussions on what to include and what to avoid when working with a photographer. BizParentz also lists several links to good articles on headshots under Child Actor Safety. Be sure to show the proofs to your agent before printing them up or making changes to your child’s online headshot.
Agents and Managers – if your child doesn’t have a rep or wants to make a change, this is a good time to start sending out headshots and resumes with a brief cover letter.
Booking out – most TV shows are on hiatus, but it’s possible there will be a few commercials or movies sending out audition notices. If your child is going to camp or you are going on a family vacation and will be unavailable for work, book out!
