Should children work as adults?

The CHSPE used to be taken primarily by 15 1/2-16 year olds who were ready to be done with high school and had opportunities to work as adults.  The numbers were relatively small and we didn’t hear much about it. More recently, we are seeing more members asking about it, sometimes for children as young as 13 years old.  With homeschooling programs, a smart and dedicated student can prepare to graduate early, but should they?

Not only does Legal 18 status allow a child to work on set without a set teacher, other than contract signing, many of the protections set into SAG-AFTRA contracts no longer apply.

We recognize this is a parenting decision and should be made by parents. Join us as we discuss the question as to whether children should work on set as adults.
