Too tall to act?

Parents always want their children to be tall, as if height is synonymous with success in life.  In modeling, taller is always better, because clothing as designed for photos or the runway looks and photographs better on someone with height.  In acting, though, being too tall usually is not a plus.  Many adult actors who play parents are short, and children are typically expected to be shorter on screen than their parents.  On stage, men can often get away with being taller, but even our friend from theatre with an awesome voice finally grew too tall for Broadway when he passed 6’5″.

If your child is tall and female, it’s even more of an issue.  See what our members say about tall actors.
