Whole Scripts vs Sides

film1Why do some actors get whole scripts before an audition while others get only sides?  Does your child need to read a full script before auditioning or are the audition sides enough?

When should you ask the agent and when should you let it go?  Does it matter?  Is it favoritism or project dependent?
